I'm really hoping that they will include this feature in Office 2007. Outlook having the ability to lock access to the email in your folders before entering a password seems like a pretty easy function to enable, especially with an Exchange Server.
Microsoft Office Assistance: Password protect Outlook: "Currently there is no way to password protect Outlook on startup or to lock Outlook if you need to quickly walk away from your computer other than by using your Microsoft Windows logon password or by using third-party software written specifically to password protect Outlook. Really basic info here that everyone should at least be aware of, hopefully following.
With the amount of junk flying around the internet these days, there is no such thing as "too much" protection.
The article lays out 10 things that you should be doing to keep your network, business, and data safe and secure.

Windows 2003 Server defaults to a "IE Enhanced security mode", which is great for users, but technically, regular users should not be logging onto a server. So, on servers that only admins log onto, here are instructions for disabling the service.
There are also instructions for disabling/enabling it only for certain groups (users vs. admins).

Microsoft prepares to launch "Microsoft Origami" on March 2nd. Under heavy wraps so far, some details are starting to leak out about what it will be. Below is a link to a video that is believed to be the authentic ad for a new device (the Origami) that will function much like a Windows Media Center PC, with GIS and/or mapping features, a tablet PC interface, and possibly an Ipod feature.
If this is true, I definately want one. The premise of the ad is that it will "free you", meaning no more requiring a full size laptop to do various computational features.
The premise of the product is very much in line with Bill Gates recent plans.
Kevin 2.0 Blog Archive Origami video: the real deal?: "Marketing firm DigitalKitchen must have the ad campaign on this one because if you hit their site and enter, click Work and then BrandTheatre, guess what youll find."

Microsoft's version of an "Internet Security Suite" (think Norton Internet Security) is now in the final stages of beta and will be going live (paid) in June.
The program offers a decent set of tools, antivirus, backup (which nags when you don't actually do it), and firewall, but do we really trust Microsoft with all those high risk functions?
Probably the most interesting part of this release will be the countermeasures Symantec, Mcafee, and others take to stay alive.
I'm predicting a Symantec-Mcafee merger.
Review: Microsoft OneCare Live Beta 2 - Software -: "Windows OneCare Live is ideal for less-experienced computer users who do not want to be bothered with computer-security issues. It also is a good choice for those with multiple computers because the annual fee of $49.95 (come June) includes installing the software on up to three computers. "

Internet Explorer 7 is now in open beta format. It includes some neat new features (tabbed browsing, anti-phishing filter, easier to reset defaults) but lacks a bit in the "upgradability" department (they moved quite a few of the buttons and shortcuts.
One neat new feature is RSS support: just enter a site that has an RSS feed, and it prompts you to subscribe to the feed. Then view your feed center and see what's new in each RSS.

Tons of new screenshots are up at PC Mag's new Vista preview article. Microsoft just released the new build, 5308, which is being called "feature complete". Essentially, everything that's going to be in the actual release is in this one, tho it's still a beta, so expect a few bugs.

Some basic google hacking here. There apparently are a ton of companies that allow public access to some features of their printers. The potential information disclosure here (username, document name, etc) is a bit unsettling.
